This new 3-storey facility is located at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. It accommodates the relocation of eight existing full flight simulators, various fixed training devices, associated classrooms, support spaces and administrative offices for Air Canada.
It was imperative to allow the existing CAE Toronto Aviation Training Centre to remain fully operational during construction and commissioning phases. Interaction and coordination with multiple stakeholders included Air Canada Corporate Real Estate, Air Canada Flight Operations, CAE Inc., Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), GTAA Construction Control Office, and NORR Limited.
The project was designed to create the impression of a seamless extension, through careful selection of building forms and materials, to complement the existing structure.
A sustainable approach was adopted for all aspects of facility and systems design, and provisions were made for future expandability.
