The Consortium of Figurr Architects Collective, Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architects, and Lemay are pleased to share they have won the mandate to design the new Eeyou Istchee Regional Health Centre (EIRHC) in Chisasibi for the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay.

The new 23,315 m2 facility will replace the old hospital. It includes a 52-bed hospital with ambulatory services, diagnostic and therapeutic services, clinics, and administrative support. In addition, the facility will include a Community Miyupimaatisiiun Centre (CMC), which offers frontline services such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, phycological, allied, and other specialized health services. The new state-of-the-art hospital will serve nine Cree communities and improve access to healthcare for the region.

Eeyou Istchee Regional Health Centre is scheduled for completion in 2026. In addition to supporting the community with modern healthcare services, sustainable design will be a top priority. The project is aiming for LEED v4 certification.

The new hospital is an important and much-needed resource for the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee. The team is honoured to work with the Cree Nation in the design of their new healthcare facility.
