The hamlet of Salluit on the shore of Hudson Strait was chosen for the location of a new Adult Education Centre for the surrounding villages. The mission was to provide a welcoming space where young adults could pursue their education and skill development at their own pace in order to achieve their high school diplomas.

The building is free-standing with four classrooms, a conference room, a teaching kitchen/cafeteria as well as administrative offices. It is built on the permafrost, raised one metre above the ground. The design mimics the icebergs which are visible from the land, with angular elements jutting out from the main volume.

The interior is open with ample fenestration for natural lighting and views. The choice of warm colours for wall and floor finishes enhances the contrast with the exterior and creates a welcoming ambiance.
