Joining the buildings created a much needed prestigious main entrance as well as easier access between classes. This new two-level link joins four additional classrooms, a main entrance lobby, stair and offices as well as a teacher’s lounge.
The structural components of this bridge were streamlined to maximize the view through to the greenery of the courtyard beyond. The idea is that the bridge would appear to disappear, exposing the interior of the campus to view from inside and out.
The main entrance pavilion itself is a substantial form creating stark contrast to the ethereality of the bridge. The two-storey lobby is warm and inviting with one wood-paneled wall slightly inclined to open the space more at the top and provide a view down from the second floor corridor.
