Senior Architect or Technician

Montréal

The Montreal office of Figurr Architects Collective (formerly Rubin & Rotman Architects) is currently looking for a Senior Architect or Technician with more than 15 years of experience in technical design.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate, technical design expert, will assume a key support role to the project teams. A significant proportion of his or her time will be spent as an integral part of the project teams, when the scope and complexity will require high and sustained technical attention, or acting as a technical advisor on a more ad hoc basis with other architects or technicians for the development of smaller projects. Complementarily, the role will include keeping the Figurr team up to date, building best practices and technology, and knowledge of industry codes and regulations.

More specifically, but not exclusively, the following activities will be part of the workload of the architect or senior technician:

Design technical construction details for complex and / or large projects;

Assist, on a case-by-case basis, other architects or technicians in the design of technical construction details for smaller projects, usually in the form of person-to-person consultation or revision of the technical documentation in progress;

Support or advise site supervisors in solving construction problems encountered;

Participate or assist other team members in performing interdisciplinary technical coordination activities;

Participate in quality control activities;

Participate in training activities (courses, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, etc.), report events of interest, stimulate the participation of other members of the team;

Contribute to staff training activities by sharing knowledge and best practices;

Become familiar with construction documentation technologies (REVIT, building envelope analysis programs, etc.). Work closely with the BIM Manager and BIM Operators to optimize the use of these programs for the production of project documentation;

Assist the management of the company in evaluating current expertise and make recommendations to maintain and improve the level of technical knowledge for the entire Figurr team.

Required Profile

Professional degree in architecture or architecture with at least 15 years of experience (minimum 10 years in North America);

In-depth knowledge of design and construction principles, including the building envelope;

Strong expertise in designing technical details;

In-depth knowledge of building codes and standards

Experience in construction site supervision and construction administration;

Experience in estimating costs;

Knowledge and interest in sustainable development, integrated design and various certification programs;

Good knowledge of Revit;

Autonomy and versatility;

Easy to work with (in a team)

Ability to work on several projects simultaneously (organizational capacity);

Relational skills and leadership;

Spoken and written language: French (writing ability, synthesis, clarity and good command). Bilingualism (English), an asset.
